It’s that time of year again! It's Peel Season! Up until your 30’s, skin cells turn over on average of every 28 days. Basically what this means is the bottom layer of your epidermis takes 28 days to become the top layer of your epidermis. Once you get into your 30’s though, it slows to be within range of your age. For example, if you’re 35, it takes 33-37 days to turn over. If you’re 48, it takes 46-50 days to turn over and so on.
When cellular turn-over slows down, dead skin cells build up on the surface of the skin and cause your skin to look dry, sallow, and aged. It enhances fine lines and wrinkles. Skin cells build up around the lines and wrinkles and not in them.
You may be using amazing serums and creams but they are not able to penetrate into skin tissues as they are blocked by a layer of dead skin cells. Once the cells get built up to a certain point, the only way to remove them is through lasers and chemical peels. No home care products are able to penetrate deep enough to remove the dead cells. Microdermabrasion works too, but very superficially. Lasers do a great job of resurfacing the skin, but they also thin your skin over time and are painful.
Metabolic formulated chemical peels on the other hand infuse the tissues with ingredients the body is able to use to regenerate healthy tissue and slow the signs of aging. By utilizing L-ascorbic acid, retinol, and plant based acids, we are able to bring a brand new glow to your skin.
